Where are you located?

Our main corporate office is on the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles, California. However, with Recording Connection Recording Academy, you will typically be studying in a real recording studio or production facility within an hour’s drive from your home. Our mentors are found in local recording studios in nearly every major city in the world, and even in many smaller towns. You can stay close to where you live, or relocate to another market of your choosing; that’s up to you.

How many students are in a class?

One student per class! Under our programme, you are privately tutored in a real recording studio—one mentor to one apprentice.

How long has Recording Connection been in existence?

We have been offering our revolutionary mentor-apprentice approach to education since 1983, and we continually update our music recording and audio engineering courses to keep them up to date with the times.

Yes. Recording Connection Recording Academy is fully accredited by the NPSAA (National Private School Accreditation Alliance) and the USBAS (United States Bureau of Accredited Schools).

Do you offer job placement assistance?

Yes. If needed, Recording Connection graduates are offered a 20-lesson Job Assistance course through our Stay Connected Program, at no extra charge.

How do I apply?

You can apply online, or call 800.755.7597 or 310.456.9623 and ask to speak with an Admissions Counselor.

What prior experience do I need?

None. We have no prior experience requirements for our Bachelor-level equivalent programme.

What are your age requirements?

We have no age restrictions. Recording Connection Recording Academy can accept students of virtually any age. For students under 18, we simply require Parent or Guardian approval.

What kind of course materials and/or software do I have to buy?

NONE. Our tuition covers everything you need from start to finish. All necessary course materials and software are sent to you, including your very own full version of Pro Tools to keep.

How do you compare with other recording schools?

As far as the quality of education, we compare very well; as far as our tuition and job success rate, there is almost no comparison—we surpass them all. Unlike other recording schools, which place one teacher (usually a non-working professional or novice college graduate) to a class of 20 or more students, our teachers (or “mentors”, as we call them) are actual working professionals and studio owners who currently make their living in the music business. These working professionals train our students one-on-one through personal mentoring within the actual recording studios where they work.
As far as tuition, we are 75% lower than other Recording Schools. As far as success rate, currently 72% of our graduates find gainful industry employment within a year of completion.

Can I transfer to a different mentor in another city if I have to move?

The short answer is yes. If there are no excessive truancies and/or missed classes, we will happily transfer you in most cases. We may also factor in the number of lessons already completed, but if it is a feasible option for you, we will transfer you.

Am I able to attend The Recording Connection around my job schedule?

Yes. Our course scheduling is very flexible, and we can accommodate most full-time or part-time work schedules. Night and weekend options are also available.

What are your criteria for acceptance into the Recording Connection Recording Academy? For what reasons might I NOT be accepted?

Our decision to accept or deny any applicant is based entirely on our perception of that applicant’s passion, work ethic, and motivation to succeed.
